Bullets and violence are temporary solutions at best and we all know that violence sooner or later begets violence. The only real solution to the war on terror is a change in the relationships of people to people.
And this requires an inner change — a change from fear, hatred and bigotry to understanding, love and tolerance.
The spiritual and religious traditions of the world are not inherently divisive. Their purpose is not to spread hatred, contempt, animosity and war. The real purpose of our spiritual and religious traditions is always and only to spread love and a sense of meaning, and to illustrate the path of spiritual awakening and enlightenment. All our traditions have this common purpose. We only need look beneath their superficial differences to realize their underlying unity and decency.
